This pretty unusual, but interesting Alsace camping experience organised every summer by Maison de la Nature. It is like sleep-away camp (where everyone eat together, play games, participate in cooking, etc) just for families with children
Address: 35 Rue Ehnwihr, 67600 Muttersholtz.
During our stay it was vegetarian only food. As for accommodation, there were 5 tipis, 5 persons could easily sleep in one. Cost was around 120 euro per night (family of 5), dinner and breakfast included.
We met 3 more families from Alsace during our stay, it was interesting to get to know each other, as everyone came from different parts of it!
Alsace Camping at the Maison de la Nature
Getting to the Maison de la Nature from the parking lot:

We came late and after dropping our blankets at the tipi, went to the kitchen to help with dinner:
Pictured below: Maison de la Nature kitchen philosophy: everything what is possible is locally sourced:

1. Preparing food and having dinner
Erika and Andrew making fruit salad:

Menu for dinner:

Veggie kebab and couscous:

2. Sleeping arrangements: tipi!
It was our first time camping in a tipi ever. I liked it for the tall celling: more space and not so hot as in the tent:

Thankfully for the cots being provided, all we need to bring were pillows and blankets:

3. Games
All the time during camping we have a host, who was organising food preparation and games after dinner.
We started games around 10pm, and played until the night fall:

4. Showers, etc:
We slept in the tipis and for the bathroom used Maison de la Nature, minutes walking away:

In the morning, after breakfast (sandwiches and coffee), we packed out stuff, but didn’t leave, there more things to do steps away!
5. Things to do besides camping at the Maison de la Nature
Barefoot trail
Barefoot trail is an interesting thing to do as a family with children, as it has several “parts” – educational, traditional wooden games, tunnels, waters, etc:

More about this experience in the post below:
Microbrewery
The owners, Pierre Sigwalt, in his sixties, and Charles Guyot, in his thirties, both agri-food engineers specializing in brewing. They did not know each other, but shared same dream that came true: having their own brewery:

It is located just steps away from the barefoot trail:

Chickens, creek, etc..
Kids and us had a lot of fun during this trip: picking mirabelle plums, splashing in a creek, and run after chickens:

Freshly picked plums:
