Switzerland has well-known cities to explore with children, as Geneve, Lucerne, Zurich, Lausanne, as well as small, little-known towns. Stein am Rhein, in the post below, is our favorite in Switzerland with kids in summer, when it’s hot, – you are always close to the city center and to the beach:
Switzerland With Kids in Summer
1. Swimming area “Schwimmbad Espi”
Address: Espiweg 28, 8260 Stein am Rhein:
Schwimmbad Espi is a picturesque spot on Rhein river. It is offering a large, fenced swimming place, lawn for sunbathing, snacks, SUPs, pool toys, etc:

2. A museum for the whole family: discover the life in Switzerland in the 19th century
How did people live without heating, electricity or running water? How did they till the fields or harvest the crops without tractors? You can experience all of this up close right at Lindwurm Museum:

We would never find this museum if not the chickens, who were roaming at yard of the center of museum!

3. Schiffsanker street: watch the boats and enjoy the scenery
Schiffsanker Street in Stein am Rhein is a charming, historic lane lined with well-preserved medieval buildings and traditional half-timbered houses, overlooking the Rhein river:

4. Old Town: famous painted houses
Stein am Rhein’s Old Town is unique because of its exceptionally well-preserved medieval architecture, where nearly every building is adorned with colorful frescoes.
These painted facades, depicting scenes from history, mythology, and daily life:

5. Splashing at the unofficial beach at the Stein am Rhein bridge
Address: 47°39’30.8″N 8°51’34.0″E
Locals (cyclists, kids summer camps, etc.) know this place well and like it a lot.
Every year water level in the Rhine is different, and during high water the small gravel beach might totally disappear.. with only banks left to jump off and swim in a strong, crystal clear river:

6. Spending time as a daredevil local: jumping off the bridge
Address: 47°39’30.8″N 8°51’34.0″E
Pictured below: the exact bridge locals (from school age to adults) use to jump off:

Water in the Rhine is around 21C and crystal clean, like Mediterranean Sea. There are several beaches and spots down the river to climb up, come back through the small, beautiful old town, and come back to jump again
In the short video below Artem (14) and Leo jumping off the bridge:
7. Nice playground for kids 12 and under at Stadtgarten
Huge, with lots of shade on a hot day, adjusted to the river, this playground is great a for smaller children, having a picnic, etc:
Thanks for visiting, friends, and have a great day
Make sure to check out hours, fees, and conditions before you go
