Fruit and vegetables picking is a great activity during summer (and fall) in Alsace.
Just recently we discovered a farm that that “has it all”: berries, apples, flowers, watermelons, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, etc.
Summer in Alsace: hands-on activity
Since we live in the city and don’t have garden, it’s interesting for the kids to see where their food comes from, dig out carrots, potatoes, and pick up prickly cucumbers :).
Address of the farm that has it all:
51 Rue d’Olwisheim, 67550 Eckwersheim (30 min by car from the Strasbourg)
Website: cueillette-eckwersheim.fr
Prices: affordable
Our harvest during late August:

Fields are huge at the Eckwersheim farm, so after arrival the lady at the cashier let you know what they currently have for picking up and where it is located.
Some people bring pull-along wagons but you can borrow a wheelbarrow. There is also a place with farm animals, like goats, pigs, etc.
We were surprised how popular veggie picking among locals, every time we were visiting, there were plenty of people, even during hot days.

Rows of tomatoes:
(Price was 2.50 euro per kilogram, and even more cheaper after 3d, 5th, etc kilogram)

Tomatoes, apples, and cucumbers were the best by taste, we’ll come back for more for sure.
On the video below: rows of cucumbers:
Kids like playing with wheelbarrows and there even some small ones for toddlers.

PS
Since we moved to Strasbourg, we applied for a family garden (very popular activity in Europe), waiting time is around 3 years, as it in high demand.
Make sure to check out prices, hours, and conditions before you go
